I go trail running pretty frequently and my sneakers create holes in the back of my socks. After about two hours of trail running up and down hills and hiking I get holes in my sock about where my achilles tendon is. I'm wearing mid calf socks. Is there something I can do to prevent this?
The place where you get a hole is where there is excessive rubbing. You might be able to try an insert that might help your stride. Places that sell insoles or orthotics usually do free evualations. I highly recommend that you check it out. Inserts are not just for old people or those with super wide feet.
